Who Am I?

Friends, we have a problem. What is that problem? We are living in an identity crisis and don’t even know it.

According to the 2019 Identity Fraud Study from Javelin Strategy & Research, the number of consumers who were victims of identity fraud fell to 14.4 million in 2018, down from a record high of 16.7 million in 2017.

Although these numbers are alarming, a worse crisis in simmering in our hearts and minds – a crisis that is fueled by social media, comparison, competition, and unrealistic/misguided expectations for our life. We have been caught off guard and don’t even know our identity has been stolen. So we live day to day going through the motions mechanically, with anxiousness simmering below our packed our power sheets of “to do’s”. We wear our schedules as a badge of honor, seeing how much we can fill them up, diving into despair if we don’t meet our goals! We live with no freedom or margin. We don’t know who we are, so we valiantly try to live anyone else’s life.

I propose that if we were truly walking in the right identity, we would be free to live! Our lives would have margin because we would be able to clearly identity our purpose, our mission, and what takes up our time. We could let our yes by yes, and our no be no, knowing we were exactly where we needed to be.

The identity that I will be exploring through my podcast is about

1. Embracing who YOU are – everything about you: your birth, your parents, your DNA, the world’s timeline when you entered humanity, all the events that occur in your life
2. How does your identity become threatened
3. How do you reclaim it?
4. Lastly, what do you then do with it?

The intention of my podcast is to provide  content that will cause you to be single-focused on your personal life story and to embrace every part of it.

I will have light-hearted topics – fashion, makeup, personal style – to deep, thought provoking topics – life’s disappointments, your coping skills, and then the formula for moving forward.

My introductory passage is from one of my favorite chapters:

Psalm 139:16 –

All the days ordained for me were written in your book before one of them came to be.

Before I discuss the implications of this densely packed verse, let’s back up to verse 13:

For you created my inmost being; you knit me together in my mother’s womb

verse 15:

My frame was not hidden from you when I was made in the secret place. When I was woven together in the depths of the earth, your eyes saw my unformed body.

Here are the amazing implications:

1. God knew us and saw us while we were yet unformed.
2. God knew everything that would take place in our lives – he would know us before we were formed, but when we would enter humanity.
3. God knows everything that impacts our lives.

Translation: God knows everything that is encompassed in our “dash.”

And at the time of this podcast launch, we are all unsettled because we have been faced with a global challenge that has affected every single one of us.

We never expected this to occur in *our* dash, but here we are. Our days have caught us by surprise, but God has always known every event that would affect our hearts and our minds while living on this fallen, broken planet.

One of my favorite authors writes: “To miss out on the mission (God) gives is to spend (our) entire life trying to win the wrong game.”

Has this crisis allowed us to recognize that we’ve been playing the wrong game with our lives? May we realign our priorities of what we are doing with our own respective dashes. Are we true to our core values or are we aiming for all the wrong things?… Assuming identities that can crumble in a matter of a few days?

How can we remain steadfast? How can we have peace?

We can live securely in our value and worth with unshakeable confidence because of WHO and WHOSE we are! OUR IDENTITY!
