WHEN OTHERS GRIEVE AT CHRISTMAS

Part 1:   If you know someone who has experienced loss this year:

  1. Don’t avoid; reach out.
  2. It’s not about what you say but that you are present
  3. Name a specific way/action you can reach out     [e.g. dinner, coffee, write a note]
  4. Don’t use spiritual platitudes [this bypasses their pain of loss]
  5. Don’t tell them you know how they feel. You don’t.
  6. Can you change up your normal traditions or way of doing things to  include someone who has experienced loss? [Christmas dinner, etc.]
  7. Ask how they are doing.  [Christmas felt like a “glass globe” experience]
